Nepali Congress leader Mohan Bahadur Basnet has claimed that if party president Gagan Kumar Thapa had contested the recent election from Kathmandu-4, he would have lost his deposit.
Basnet made this claim while addressing a gathering organised on the 44th memorial day of BP Koirala.
Basnet said he made this claim after interacting with over 9,000 voters from Sindhupalchok who are registered in Kathmandu-4.
‘I want to say that if Gagan Thapa had contested from Kathmandu-4, he would have lost his deposit like other candidates,’ Basnet said.
Basnet also expressed his objection to senior leaders being called ‘Kharaani Dasta’ (a derogatory term).
‘Our senior leaders were called Kharaani Dasta, but who is Kharaani now? Gagan Thapa, who led the party to a humiliating defeat in the election, is himself a loser,’ Basnet said.
