Mechi Customs Office in Kankarbhitta, a major trade hub in eastern Nepal, has collected Rs 17.67 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year 2082/83.
This is an increase of Rs 1.74 billion compared to the previous fiscal year 2081/82. The office has seen a growth of around 11% in revenue collection.
However, despite the increase in revenue collection, the office failed to meet its annual target. The office had been set a target of collecting Rs 18.87 billion in revenue for the fiscal year 2082/83, but it only managed to achieve around 93% of the target.
In the previous fiscal year 2081/82, Mechi Customs Office had collected Rs 15.93 billion in revenue. The office is one of the major import-export points in eastern Nepal, with goods such as tea, cardamom, ginger, and other agricultural products being exported through this point.
Similarly, petroleum products, textiles, chemicals, and various industrial materials are imported through this point.
