Madhes Province Government to Downsize Ministries by August 29

The government of Madhes Province is preparing to downsize its ministries from 12 to 9 by August 29, along with a cabinet reshuffle.

According to sources, the three parties in the ruling coalition – the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and the Nepal Communist Party – have agreed to reduce the number of ministries and merge some of them.

The current 12 ministries will be reduced to 9, with some ministries being merged with others. The Ministry of Forests and Tourism will be merged into one ministry, while the Ministry of Commerce will be merged with the Home Ministry.

The Nepali Communist Party has also announced that it will send new representatives to the government by August 15.

The government has also decided to scrap the old system of awarding contracts to development projects through consumer committees and instead will award contracts through open competition.

The government has also announced that it will start the tender process for development projects from the month of Bhadra.
