Landslides Put 16 Houses at Risk in Bajura

A series of landslides triggered by incessant rainfall has put 16 houses at risk in Bajura’s Badimalika Municipality-6.

Following the heavy downpour on Sunday night, six houses in the Kordha area have been affected, while 10 others are at high risk.

A team led by Police Inspector Shaileshwari Bohara from the Bajura District Police Office, along with a team from Badimalika Municipality, conducted a joint inspection of the area on Tuesday morning.

According to Police Inspector Narayan Bahadur Shahi, the team confirmed that six houses are at high risk, while 10 others are at moderate risk.

Affected Families

The six families at high risk include those of Prasad Saud, Gore Saud, Ammar Saud, Bhakt Saud, Lal Saud, and Khadak Saud, all from Badimalika-6.

Meanwhile, the families of Bal Saud, Man Saud, Shiv Baduwal, Jay Saud, Nar Saud, Bhane Saud, Gorakh Saud, Khante Lwar, and Pawan Vik are at moderate risk.

Fortunately, no human or animal casualties have been reported so far.

However, locals have expressed concerns that the continuous rainfall may trigger further landslides, and have urged the authorities to relocate the affected families to safer areas and provide them with relief assistance.

The police team has prepared a report and recommended that the concerned authorities provide relief and necessary support to the affected families.

The landslides have caused panic among the locals, but the police have reported that all the belongings from the affected houses have been safely relocated.

The continuous rainfall has also put other settlements in the district at high risk of landslides.
