A landslide has blocked a section of the Prithvi Highway in Chitwan, Nepal, disrupting traffic and passenger movement.

The landslide occurred at two locations in Chitwan, causing the road to be blocked. While the debris has been cleared, allowing traffic to resume from Chitwan, the road remains blocked from the Dhading side.

According to Ramshwar Paudel, chief of the District Police Office, the landslide in Jawang Khola, Dhading, has made it impossible to operate vehicles from Dhading to Chitwan, despite the clearance of debris from the Chitwan side.

Vehicles from Chitwan have been halted at Chumlingtar, Kurintar, and Mugling. However, vehicles traveling from Narayangadh to Mugling and onward to Pokhara have been operating since morning.

The local administration had imposed a ban on passenger movement from last night, citing the risk of landslides. The Narayangadh-Mugling road section and the Prithvi Highway remain closed to passenger traffic.

The blockade has resulted in a long queue of passengers on the road, with vehicles halted since last night yet to resume operation.
