Land Ownership Certificates Distributed to 18 Families in Jhapa

In a significant move to address the long-standing issue of land ownership, 18 families in Arjundhara of Jhapa district have been distributed land ownership certificates.

The District Land Problem Resolution Committee, Jhapa, handed over the certificates to the families on Thursday, marking a major milestone in their struggle for land rights.

For years, these families had been living in uncertainty, without any legal claim to the land they had been occupying. The distribution of land ownership certificates, also known as ‘lalpurja’, has now made them legitimate landowners.

Government’s Priority

The Ministry of Land Management has stated that the government has given high priority to resolving the issues of landless Dalits, landless indigenous communities, and those living in informal settlements.

This is not the first time the government has taken such a step. Earlier, land ownership certificates were distributed to landless families in Bardia’s Badhaiyatal and Jhapa’s Buddhashanti.

The ministry claims that the distribution of land ownership certificates is a significant step towards achieving the government’s goal of providing land rights to these marginalized communities and making them legitimate landowners.
