A special court has ordered the release of former Finance Minister Vishnu Paudel on a general date after a hearing on his property laundering case.

Paudel was granted a fifth extension for investigation, and the court ordered his release after the case was registered.

The bench of judges Narayan Prasad Paudel, Diliratna Shrestha, and Vidur Koirala stated that there was insufficient evidence to prove Paudel’s involvement in the case.

The court noted that Paudel’s statement denying the charges and the lack of evidence linking him to the alleged financial transactions were key factors in the decision.

It was also stated that there was no evidence to suggest that Paudel had benefited financially from the dealings of Deepak Bhatta.

The court ordered Paudel’s release on a general date, pending further investigation and evidence.
