The FBI is investigating alleged threats related to the mysterious death of Nolan Wells, a teenager who went missing after a boat trip with friends.
According to the FBI’s Jackson office, the federal agency has been working to address interstate threats received by individuals connected to the case. However, details about the nature of the threats and the recipients remain unclear.
The FBI’s efforts are running in parallel with an independent investigation by Jackson County. Recently, Nolan’s friend, Tracestin Shepherd, revealed in an interview that he and his friends had been receiving online threats.
Nolan went missing on July 4 after staying behind on Horn Island when his friends returned to the mainland. His body was later found in the water. The teenager’s family is conducting a separate investigation into his death, including a private autopsy.
Nolan’s visitation and funeral are scheduled to take place on Monday morning.
