Eight-year-old boy dies from snakebite in Mahottari

An eight-year-old boy has died after being bitten by a snake in Mahottari.

The victim, identified as Vivek Kapar, was the son of Chandan Kapar from Bijalpura in Ward No 12 of Bardibas Municipality.

According to the family, Vivek was bitten by the snake while plucking fruits from a mango tree near his home on Wednesday evening.

He was immediately taken to Jansewa Hospital in Bardibas for treatment, where he died on Thursday morning.

The hospital has confirmed the death.

Vivek’s mother, Amritdevi Kapar, said the family was unable to afford the treatment cost of around 70,000 rupees and was struggling to clear the hospital bill.

Following the incident, Madhes Province’s Labour and Transport Minister, Sharada Thapa, and Bardibas Municipality Mayor, Prahlad Kumar Khetri, among others, have visited the hospital to provide necessary assistance.
