Andrew Gillum Tests Negative for Drugs After Meth Arrest

Andrew Gillum, the former nominee for Florida governor, has tested negative for drugs, weeks after being arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Mr. Gillum enrolled in a drug testing program and the results came back clean. He has requested a hearing to determine whether he needs to undergo a court-approved drug treatment program.

The court has granted his request and scheduled a hearing for next month. Mr. Gillum was arrested earlier this month after being pulled over by police in Alabama for driving erratically. Officers found 3 grams of methamphetamine, as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia, in his vehicle.

Prosecutors have charged him with felony possession of a controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor possession of marijuana for personal use and possession of drug paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing is set to take place on August 4.
