Amy Fisher, known as the ‘Long Island Lolita’, is facing a new scandal as her eldest son, Brett Anthony Bellera, has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
Bellera, 25, is accused of causing the death of his pet cat, Reaper, in December 2024. A forensic examination found that the cat suffered extreme pain before dying from ‘involuntary heat exposure’, with injuries consistent with microwave radiation, immersion in hot water, or exposure to hot water vapor.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Bellera’s girlfriend, Jennifer Armenti, is also charged in connection with the incident. Authorities were alerted after a friend of the couple reported the cat’s death, leading to a lengthy investigation that resulted in criminal charges.
Armenti allegedly told investigators that she found Reaper on the bathroom floor and initially believed the animal had been poisoned after getting into household cleaning products. Bellera was formally charged while already in custody on unrelated cases, while Armenti was arrested separately in Miramar, Florida.
Amy Fisher became a household name in 1992 after shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco, the wife of her then-lover, Joey Buttafuoco. Mary Jo survived the shooting but was left with permanent facial paralysis. Amy served several years in prison before being released on parole.
Bellera’s father is retired NYPD officer Louis Bellera. His parents are divorced.
