The upcoming ‘God of War’ series has been hit by a major setback after its star, Ryan Hurst, suffered a severe injury on set. Hurst, who plays Kratos in the video game adaptation, tore his bicep while filming a stunt and requires surgery.
The recovery time for the injury is too long for Amazon Studios, and as a result, Hurst will be recast to allow production to get underway sooner. This decision comes despite Hurst’s high profile, having been known for his work in ‘Sons of Anarchy’.
According to reports, Hurst may not be able to resume filming until next year, making the recasting decision a practical one for the production team. The series has been filming in Vancouver and also stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor and Mandy Patinkin as Odin.
