More than 500 drivers in the Kathmandu Valley have been penalized for violating traffic rules in the past 24 hours.
According to Narish Prasad Suvedi, spokesperson and inspector of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 521 drivers were penalized for various offenses.
Among those penalized, 30 were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, 12 were penalized for mechanical offenses, 26 for violating traffic signals, and 66 for speeding.
Additionally, seven drivers were penalized for driving in poor condition, 32 for honking in restricted areas, 19 for parking on sidewalks, and 323 for not following other traffic rules.
